The DIPAS navigator as a finalist for the Innovation in Politics Award

We are happy to announce that the DIPAS navigator has been selected as one of the top ten finalists in the category ‘Democracy Technologies’ of the 'Innovation in Politics Institute Awards’ 2024. The nomination highlights and recognises the innovative approach of the tool, which serves to expand public participation and thus enables an important step towards more transparency, inclusion and traceability.
The DIPAS navigator provides a previously unavailable real-time overview of over one hundred current and past digital participation processes in Hamburg. Users can determine the level of detail themselves: Everything is possible, from a city-wide overview to insights into specific processes and access to individual contributions and discussions.
The Navigator has a clear goal: to reduce the barriers to citizen participation!
The Navigator shows transparently what is happening in the city and the simple, user-friendly design makes participation more accessible to a wider public. Citizens are encouraged to become active themselves as they can see the results of the participation processes directly. Even more if decision-makers are obliged to publish all data and thus disclose their information.
This nomination highlights the importance of citizen participation as an indispensable component of modern democratic governance and emphasises the innovative role of the navigator in Europe. The DIPAS navigator promotes and strengthens the otherwise often underrepresented voices of citizens in decision-making processes and we are pleased to contribute to this beyond Hamburg!
We congratulate all the other candidates and their outstanding projects and thank our team for working together to develop the DIPAS navigator. See you at the award ceremony on 2 May in Barcelona!
P.S.: Of course, we are constantly striving to further develop the navigator and are currently working on the integration of AI analyses for improved data evaluation and thus more resilient implementations - stay tuned!
